Utility Computing with LiquidIQ

Utility computing is the ultimate end-game for IT services. While "utility computing" is a heavily over-used term from a practical perspective it can be boiled down to two perspectives:

• To the service end-user, utility computing represents the ability to buy or consume whatever computing, networking and storage resources are required for their application needs almost instantaneously, e.g. "one click" or "on demand" from completing credit card submissions to having the resources available to use for other operations. Today this capability simply doesn't exist for anything other than the most basic of IT services.
  
  
• For service providers, both multi-tenant and enterprise, utility computing is all about optimizing the cost equation associated with delivering and managing the IT infrastructure associated with satisfying "on-demand" customer needs for application deployments. For service providers today, delivering utility computing on traditional infrastructure solutions are complex - spanning servers, networking LAN, SAN, VLAN, subnets, software overlays, appliances and adjuncts -- and requires operations staff to be in the loop at almost every stage of the delivery process.
