Introducing Liquid Elements™
With Liquid Elements, Liquid Computing becomes the first to deliver the power of unified computing across standards-based data center infrastructure from leading brands. Initially, Liquid Elements will support Intel's Xeon® 5500-based SR1680MV modularized rack server system and NetApp® storage devices. The result is a complete "data center in a box" that combines the cost-savings and management flexibility of unified computing from Liquid with the breakthrough processing speed, memory, and density of servers from Intel. The system is also designed to cost effectively scale from the smallest through the largest of implementations.
Maintain your current vendor relationships within existing Intel and NetApp™ datacenter environments while adding the cost-savings and management flexibility of a unified computing system. Liquid Elements for Intel Servers combines the benefits of Liquid Computing's management and control with the power and density of the Intel® Server System SR1680MV to provide:
- Unified fabric control that enables all application infrastructure including servers, networking, and storage to be managed remotely through a common interface.
- Breakthrough performance, memory, and efficiency with up to 4 Intel® Xeon® 5500 Series Processors and up to 288GB DDR3 memory (36 DIMMs) in a 1U chassis.
- "Virtual backplane" connectivity to servers via high speed cables and Liquid's innovative Switched Network Adapters, providing secure remote management, configuration, and networking control.
- Security and reliability delivered via an out-of-path control network that supports automated failover.
- Lower costs through a 10:1 reduction in provisioning time, a 2:1 reduction in space utilization with ultra-dense Xeon 5500-based servers, and 10:1 reduction in cabling complexity with a single high-speed cable per server.
Liquid Elements Components
Liquid Elements for Intel Servers is a fully integrated and production-ready unified computing system that combines all core data center resources including servers, networking, and storage, and management control software. System components consist of:
- Liquid Elements management software.
- Fabric Module: A dual purpose module with built-in redundancy that provides management and control and 10Gb Ethernet fabric switching in a 4U chassis.
- Intel Xeon 5500-based SR1680MV modularized rack servers, which provide two independent dual socket/18DIMM nodes in 1U chassis.
- Liquid Switched Network Adapters for enhanced remote management, configuration, and networking control.
Liquid Elements with NetApp™ storage
A stateless and diskless system, Liquid Elements offers tight integration with NetApp storage that streamlines business continuity and disaster recovery processes and fully utilizes NetApp features including FlexClone® and SnapMirror®.
With Liquid Elements and NetApp SnapMirror:
- Extend DR automation from the application down to the underlying infrastructure in both bare metal and virtualized environments.
- Improve RTO by enabling backup IT infrastructure to be re-purposed, in minutes.
- Reduce costs by eliminating need for backup agents/servers and idle recovery hardware.
- Improve reliability: easily replicate and verify disaster recovery site configuration, encapsulated in a database of logical servers.
With Liquid Elements and NetApp FlexClone:
- Automatically and rapidly clone + activate logical servers on new hardware in case of failure.
- Extend monitoring, failover, and recovery to all IT infrastructure, including servers and switches.
- Lower costs by reducing standby hardware from "N+N" to "N+1" using roaming spares that can provisioned in minutes.
- Leverage these capabilities in any application environment, bare metal or virtualized.
